Women Navigating Libya

Contents
  1. How It Appears

  3. Episodes

One woman appeared in Season 1. She described the specific texture of being female in Libyan society — not as a political argument, but as a daily operational reality. A second guest, a man, named the structural issue directly.

How It Appears

  • Eslam Gazelle (EP 9) described resisting conformity pressure — "we all have to dress the same" — and building a career in social media against cultural expectations of what women should pursue. Her visibility was a deliberate act. She chose when to show her face, on what platform, and under what conditions.
  • Ghazi Gheblawi (EP 5) named patriarchy as a model of masculinity built on dominance. He did not describe it from outside. He described it as something he had inherited and was trying to dismantle in himself after five years in London.

The Pattern

Eslam Gazelle did not describe herself as a victim. She described workarounds — strategies developed to function within systems that were not designed for her.

Ghazi Gheblawi's contribution was structural. He identified the system itself rather than its effects.

Episodes
