Tripoli (طرابلس) appears in Season 1 as birthplace, battleground, and site of loss. It is where most guests began their stories and where many of those stories broke apart.
Nasr Elhadi (EP 2) ran a fashion franchise empire in Tripoli — New Look, Tommy Hilfiger, Timberland, Burberry. Ghazi Gheblawi (EP 5) was born there, studied medicine, and published his first fiction. Tariq Elmeri (EP 1) and Nasr met in a Tripoli courtyard during the revolution's final days.
Tripoli in August 2011 is where Tariq and Nasr's friendship — and the Intaj media company — began. A group of young Libyans, obsessed with documenting events, gathered in a courtyard in Benashour. No TV or media infrastructure existed. They shot footage, learned production from scratch, and built something from revolutionary energy.
Nasr's fashion business collapsed there between 2015 and 2016 as the Libyan dinar was destroyed by the black market. Fifty customers became ten. Stores closed.
